WELCOME:     Young Israel gives a warm welcome to Torah MiTzion’s Scholar in Residence, Rav Yair Solomon and his wife Naama & Family.  Rav Solomon studied in Kiryat Shmona, where he did his Hesder-Army service.  He studied for Semicha at Yeshivat Har Etzion and the Kollel in Yavneh.  Rav Solomon attended Herzog College, specializing in Education, and received his teaching certificate from Lifshitz College. He also earned a B.A. in social work from Bar-Ilan University    Naama received her teaching certificate and earned her M.A. in Hebrew and Semitic languages from Bar-Ilan University.  She has taught in both primary and secondary schools for over ten years.

 

Once again, Young Israel is pleased to welcome our friend, Rabbi Hersh Galinsky and his wife Sarah, who are visiting us from Eretz Yisrael.  Rabbi Galinsky will be joining us at Shalosh Seudos and will share some of his keen insights with us.   Welcome Rabbi & Mrs. galinsky!

SHABBOS YOUTH ACTIVITIES

Shabbat Groups led by Uria Teperberg.  Groups are from 10:00 – 11:15 AM

1st-6th Grades: Jr. Congregation.  Age 4-1st grade: Davening groups.  Up to 4 yrs: Babysitting

 

‘V’Shinantem L’Vanecha:  Please join TMK for our parent-child learning program (K-6th grade, 10 min. after Kiddush on Shabbat morning).

Important Note to Parents: Parents are reminded that they are responsible for their children while on Shul property.  We ask that every child be either with a parent or in one of the supervised youth programs listed above.  This is essential for the safety of our children and the protection of Shul property.  Thanks for your cooperation.

Wednesday:   9:15 AM   Weekly Beit Midrash for women given by Vardit Teperberg at the home of Faye Newman 7916 Stanford.

Immediately following Maariv:   Mesechta Berachot class given by Dr. Katz. 

Thursday:      7:30-8:30 PM with Dr. Dov Zeffren. Topics from the weekly Parsha

YOUNG ISRAEL ANNUAL DINNER – Our Shul Dinner invitations are out!  Let’s all get our responses and ads in quickly, to support our hard working dinner and Journal committees, ably headed by Bonnie Drazen, Jessie Lefton and Rachel Shapiro.  Let’s be sure to invite all our friends and family in the greater community!!  This will be a night to remember!

COMMUNITY NEWS

B.Y.H.S.   10th Annual Golf Classic, benefiting the Scholarship Fund, Monday, May 14th at the Meadowbrook Country Club.  Lunch at 11:30 AM; Shotgun Start at 1:00 PM.  Entry fees are $295 per golfer or $600 to be a hole sponsor which includes lunch & buffet supper. Non-golfers may purchase dinner, which will be served at 6:00 PM at a cost of $25.  For more information call Don Makovsky, 726-1218.

 

“WOMEN ONLY” SWIM OPPORTUNITY – The Center of Clayton Recreation Department is willing to make its  indoor pool available for a “women only” swim program.  Possible times would be either Sunday mornings from 8-9 AM or Sunday evenings from 5:30-7:00 PM during the fall/winter months or all year around.  If you would be interested in this program, please let us know your time preference by contacting Avigayil Raul, 567-6678 or Batya Rich, 725-2327 by May 18th.  This is a wonderful opportunity to have a facility offer a swim program to us…. Let’s take advantage of it!!!!!!!

 

The Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry needs our help.  Hearty soups, tuna, peanut butter, healthy snacks, jelly, and canned pasta are great food items.  Other articles, such as shampoo and boxes of tissues are important too.  Please drop your items off at JF&CS, send checks, or call Sue (812-9307) or Ellen (812-9309) with questions.  Let’s not miss this Tzedakah! Thank you.
