Welcome to the Young Israel of St. Louis

Young Israel of St. Louis welcomes visitors and new members to our warm and vital shul. Committed to living Torah lives, fostering spiritual growth and supporting Israel, our Orthodox congregation provides daily and Shabbos/Shabbat davening as well as multiple learning opportunities for men, women and our youth. We strive to live by the principle of hachnassas/t orchim and would be pleased to offer home hospitality to any travelers coming to our St. Louis community. Located in the heart of the St. Louis eruv, Congregation Young Israel welcomes you.

  • The Great American Eclipse

    August 21, 2017
Join fellow Young Israel and community members for a front-row seat to view what has been termed The Great American Eclipse (due to the fact the path of the total eclipse will cross through the US). This will be the first total solar eclipse in the continental US in 38 years. For most of the greater St. Louis area, the last total solar eclipse was in 1442. We will be finalizing details of the outing within the next week or so and make those available to everyone. The plan is to leave from the shul after Shacharit. At this time we are not planning to rent a bus, but rather to car pool to the park that we choose. A couple of the park options that we are looking at may also have a modest entrance fee per person. We will be ordering the correct eclipse glasses and there may be a small cost involved for these glasses. If you have or will be ordering your own glasses, please make sure that they are the correct ones (NASA stresses that eclipse watchers be sure that their glasses are both from an approved manufacturer and have an ISO icon with reference 12312-2.)
